Cleveland Cavaliers guard Sam Merrill underwent an MRI on his left hamstring Wednesday after sustaining the injury during Game 1 of the team’s playoff series against the Detroit Pistons.
Merrill missed practice as the Cavaliers continued to assess the severity of the issue before Game 2. The veteran guard was hurt during Tuesday’s postseason opener, but the team has yet to release the full MRI results or confirm his availability for the remainder of the series.
Throughout the regular season, Merrill was a key contributor for Cleveland, averaging 12.8 points while providing perimeter shooting and backcourt depth. The Cavaliers and Pistons are scheduled to face off in Game 2 on Thursday.
